Saint Mary's History: 1989
• The 1988-89 school year is the last year for the College of Saint Teresa
• Ground is broken for Gilmore Creek residence Hall
• Saint Mary’s College athletics adopts “Cardinals” as new mascot and nickname to replace “Redmen”
• The Saint Mary’s Men’s Hockey team takes second in the MIAC, wins the MIAC conference tournament, and clinches a berth in the NCAA Division III National Tournament
